REV. WARREN L. JONES SERVANT SCHOLARSHIP FUNDThe Rev. Warren L. Jones was a teacher, preacher, counselor, pastor, civic leader, local volunteer, and true friend to the Greater Rome community and its vast array of people for more than 50 years. A graduate of West Georgia College, the Grady School of Journalism at the University of Georgia, and the Candler School of Theology at Emory University, Rev. Jones lived 99 years embodying, in both word and deed, the words of one of his favorite prayers:
"I am but one, but I AM one. I can not do EVERYTHING, but I CAN do SOMETHING. What I CAN do, I OUGHT to do. And what I OUGHT to do I WILL do, so help me God." From sergeant major of the United States Air Force in World War II to his ordination as Elder in full connection with the United Methodist Church, Rev. Jones lived a life of servant-leadership that embodied, not just the HOPE, but the PROOF that in ALL places, at ALL times, mission is ALWAYS possible! On behalf of the family, The Mission IsPossible Foundation is accepting donations to fund the Rev. Warren L. Jones Servant Scholarship. Awarded to high school Servant Scholar graduates who complete 4 years of both academic and outreach participation in the MIP Servant Scholar program, once fully endowed, this fund will award a college scholarship of up to $4000. |
